Anna especially has so many fond memories of her Grandpa Wish. He and Sue babysat Anna from the time she was a few weeks old. Anna and Wish would watch Tom and Jerry and argue over who got to be Tom and who got to be Jerry. Of course, Anna always won and got to be Jerry. He had a heart of gold and seemed to try to hide it behind remarks like saying to Anna "the only reason you shot that buck last Tuesday was because it was crippled" or saying to me "did I shovel you a path wide enough or does it need to be wider?" I have always been thankful that Wish and Sue took care of Kristin since she was about 7 years old, and Dani, Amber and Anna from birth. My girls all love you Wish and none of us will ever forget you.

My first memories are of home, your home. Walking just through the field from the trailor to you. Beth, Eli and I were and are more than cousins. We were raised by the best families combined. Every time I come "home" I had to go to Gramma and PaPa's before I was at home. You were the best of the best, watching Looney Toons with us, teasing ALL the time and loving everyone unconditionally. Every poisonous kiss was beautiful. I'll always remember the feel of your cheak on my lips and your hands on my back for a hug. You and Gramma made a wonderful family and I'm fortunate to have been part of this life path. Loving you always!

Oh my, I don't even know where to start. I've known Uncle Wish my entire life and I don't think anyone has ever made me laugh as much as he has. From baling hay in July to chasing whitetails in the fall. I've probably heard more stories than have memories of my own. The best ones coming from my Grandpa Bauer and Gram Leech. I am blessed to have had the HONOR and privilege of hunting with him. Driving deer from the house to Leeper and back, and spending time my first year standing on top of the strip job discussing what we were shooting today. He will be greatly missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN. RIP UNCLE WISH.

We are sad to hear that we lost a good neighbor and dear friend. We have so many good memories of "Wish", like our visits back and forth, playing Euchre on our front porch and having a beer. He was a great Euchre player, you could always see the twinkle in his eye when he knew he had you euchred, and then he would look at you and give you his big grin... I remember when we were kids growing up. Being neighbors, my Dad would always ask Wish if he would carry grain from the thresher, (which was not an easy job). Wish never turned him down, and my Dad knew things ran smooth when Wish was there. Over the years, we had a lot of good hunting memories, and stories, and those we will Keep to Ourselves... What A Guy, he was one of a kind..and we will surely miss him. Our Deepest and Heartfelt Sympathy to you Sue and the kids. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers...

I would like to send my condolences to the entire Gatesman family. You have lost a wonderful man in your lives. I have such humorous memories of "Wish" during the days that Jake and I did so many things together. You see Wish was always willing to give us his advice on how to do things with most of it being legal and maybe a little bit of it slightly illegal. But we never got in to much trouble so he knew what he was talking about. The best part of Wish was the pride he took in every one of his grandchildren. Every time I ran into him once he became a grandfather we had no problem having a good conversation with me listening and him talking the entire time about his grandchildren. I couldnt get a word in edgewise so I learned quickly to just listen and laugh at the great stories he told about every one of them. He truely loved his family. So I just want to say thanks for the memories and to his family keep smiling because you know thats what he wants you to do.
