Herman Dinger Jr., 92, of Tionesta, PA passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born in Summerville, PA on February 7, 1932, to the late Herman Dinger Sr. and Elizabeth McCarron Dinger.
On June 6, 1951, Herman married the love of his life in Hawthorn, PA, Esther Holibaugh. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2021.
Herman served in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. While in the Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service Medal. After his military service, he worked for 40 years at Tionesta Sand and Gravel.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and camping. Herman was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club, Pine Grove Rovers Camping Club and the Fryburg Sportsman's Club. He also was a member of the Tylersburg United Methodist church.
Herman is survived by his children: Patricia Seitz and her husband Jim of Lucinda, PA, Deb Schill of Lucinda, PA, Peggy Silvis and her husband Bob of Tionesta, PA, and Gary Dinger and his wife Sally of Fryburg, PA; grandchildren: Tommy Seitz, Billy Seitz, Selena Daugherty, Jason Schill, Stacy Beers, Nicole Dailey, Tracy Silvis, Robert Silvis Jr., Aaron Dinger, Luke Dinger, Ellie Esterline, Veda Esterline, and Jordan Esterline; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, William Dinger and his wife Sarah of Mudlic, PA, a step sister, Beverly Dinger of Punxsutawney, and a step sister-in-law, Sherry Dinger of Sigel, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Herman was preceded in death by a grandson, David Schill, siblings: Katherine Smith, Lucille (Toot) Hopper, Mabel Taylor, Betty McLaughlin, Harry (Hink) Dinger, Richard Dinger; a daughter-in-law, Kami Dinger and a son-in-law, Tom Schill.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. There will be an hour of visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Heidi Helsel, pastor from Tylersburg Methodist Church, as officiant.
