John was such a kind man. He did his best to teach me to roll silverware. (I could never get them to look as nice as he did.) I will really miss his presence at the Nook. My condolences to all who loved him.

Every time I stop he was working.
He would stop what he was doing. Ask me how I am. I would notice something new he's done.
I'm going to try to put my flower in next year like his. I will remember him always. Thank for being a man's man. You will be missed.

This is John Kirk, Aunt Norma’s husband.
I will surely miss Jack. We would always spend time together during our family reunion in July. We shared so many memories and of course all the latest medical problems we both had. I feel very fortunate to have known him.
May he rest in eternal peace.

My Summer Family,
Your family quickly became my own. You were all so accepting and generous. Jack was always right there willing, smiling, and planning his next sneaky trick. Countless hours of listening to him tell old lineman, farm, and military stories are some of my favorite. That big grin he would have as he would drive around his tractor and admire his hard work on the outside of the Nook will live on for forever. Caramels, hot sandwiches, a pizza, or Schuck burger were always quick to be devoured by him. He was so proud of the work you’ve all done and wasn’t afraid to share with all the customers and friends these feelings. The “monitoring” the grounds and perfect appearance, even if it means watering plans while customers are here or spraying that smelly anti-deer spray, were all sacrifices that had to be made. Ending each day with the vacuuming of the floors and perfect silverware roll as stories and laughs were told after a hard day are memories held near and dear to me. Jack, you truly were such an amazing man you were. Thank you for always accepting me like your own grandchild. The memories we’ve made are some I think of often. I hope you’re up there riding that tractor around, eating as many caramels as you want while sipping your coffee. But most of all Jack, I hope you’re smiling down on everyone who you’ve impacted so much over the years.
So much love
Xoxo
Claire

To describe Jack begins with devoted family man that adored his family. Always available and always loving and supportive. I am very thankful he was my loving Dad #2 during our high school years. He made sure we had fun opportunities and that we were safe while he and Jane welcomed all of us kids into their home for pool parties and camp fires. Rest in peace beloved Jack. You are an example of a life well lived that made a huge difference to those you loved. We love you back! You will be missed! ❤️❤️❤️
