Obituary of Gerard A. Bauer

Gerard A. Bauer, 85, of Lucinda, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Clarion Hospital. Born April 26, 1938, in Lucinda, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Regina Bauer. G.A. was a 1956 graduate of North Clarion High School. He was enlisted into the United States Army in the 323rd Chemical Company Reserve on November 1, 1958. G.A. proudly served his country for six years including a one-year station at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He was honorably discharged on September 30,1964, as a Sergeant. G.A. spent over 45 years in the trucking industry. He began as an owner-operator and eventually built a successful business known as G.A. Bauer Trucking. Prior to trucking, he spent three years at Clarion University as a stationary engineer and one year at General Electric in Erie, PA. G.A. was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Lucinda, PA, where he regularly served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and at one point held the Grand Knight position. G.A. was a dedicated member of the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company for 40 years (10 years honorary member). On November 19, 1960, he married Agnes P. Siegel at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Fryburg, PA. They recently celebrated 63 beautiful years of marriage. He spent a great deal of time farming on his 72-acre property along Route 66. G.A. loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He never failed to remind you to come back again and visit him on the farm. He was incredibly grateful to God for blessing him with an abundance of family and friends. Surviving are five sons, Greg Bauer and wife Kathy of Shippenville, Jeff Bauer and wife Cathy of Tionesta, Gary Bauer and wife Sharon of Tionesta, Scott Bauer and wife Jackie of Lucinda, and Eric Bauer and wife Betsy of Lucinda. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Michael Bauer and wife Kayla, Bryan Bauer and wife Vicki, Ashley Pence and husband James, Branden Bauer and wife Katelyn, Joshua Bauer and wife Brooke, Jenny Cyphert and husband Christian, Ryan Bauer, Kelly Bauer and fiancé Brady Kingston, Jacob Bauer, Haley Bauer, Katelyn Bauer, Nathan Bauer, Morgan Bauer, and Austin Bauer. Additionally, nine great grandchildren are left to cherish his memory, Ella, Reyna, Liam, Harper, Kennedy, Hudson, Vivian, Crew, and Addilyn. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Regis and Peg Bauer; sister, Germaine Dobrich; sister, Elaine Bauer; sister, Nancy Cooke; and sister-in-law, Lucille Bauer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Selker; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bernard Banner; brother, Dennis Bauer; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Douglas Witmer; brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Dorothy Bauer; and brother-in-law, Steve Dobrich. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home in Leeper, PA. The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. in Lucinda, PA with the Rev. Michael Polinek, pastor as celebrant. A meal will follow the funeral in St. Joseph's Hall. All friends and family are welcome. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 112 Rectory Lane, P.O. Box 9, Lucinda, PA 16235, the American Cancer Society, 214 Seventh Ave. P.O. Box 408, Clarion, PA or the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 122, Leeper, PA 16233. G.A.'s family would like to thank Clarion County Transportation for helping transport G.A. to his appointments, the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Services in Clarion, the Cancer Center at UPMC Seneca for all the care they showed him, and all those who supported him throughout his life.
