Obituary of Stanley J. Schill

Stanley J. Schill, 94, of Lucinda, died Saturday, August 10, while surrounded by his children in his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen R. (Guth) Schill, father of Gary F. Schill of Lucinda and Valerie L. Harkless (wife of James) of Sinking Spring, PA, and grandfather of Joshua Harkless, 16, and Shawn Harkless, 10.
Stan was born on May 3, 1925 and was the son of the late Edward and Adelaide (Fascenmyer) Schill of Lucinda. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and the American Legion in Clarion. Stan served our country as a PFC in WWII, and worked briefly as a coal miner and carpenter before eventually becoming a skilled master painter. He was always hard at work but loved coming home to his family.
Over the years, Stan also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, square dancing, playing cards, and golfing. In 1990, he decided to retire to the "Honey Do Company," and in 1993, after extensive remodeling, Stan & his family moved from Clarion to live in his homestead in Lucinda. At 78 years of age, he became an adoring grandfather, known as "Pop-Pop.'
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Stanley is survived by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Cyphert, and four godchildren, Jerry Schill, Dan Cyphert, Bob Becker and Cletus Schill, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and five siblings, Augustine Schill, Cletus Schill Sr., Eulalia Schill, Jessica Becker and Velma Dale.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2019, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 66 on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 2:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lucinda, with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
