Obituary of Lois J. Smith
Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois "Jean" Smith, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
Born July 15, 1930, to Charles Ira and Etta Findlay Botts, she was one of seven siblings.
On July 8, 1955, Jean married James B. Smith, who survives. They were married 63 years ago at Pine Ridge by Rev. Pierce.
Jean enjoyed her horses in her younger days and always loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, working in her garden and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Jean loved making afghans and knitting sweaters. She often commented that while she was working with yarn, whether it be making one of her grandchildren a sweater or crocheting an afghan, she had "happy hands".
Along with her husband she is survived by her children: Charles S. Oyler, and his wife Susan, of Clarion and Linda L. Maxwell, and her husband Stephan, of Tylersburg; grandchildren: Jeremy S. (Kristina McDaniel) Maxwell of Katy, TX, Douglas (Shelley Robinson) Oyler of Erie, Keith (Georgia) Oyler of Lucinda, David N. Oyler of Clarion, Andrew (Megan) Oyler of Snow Hill, MD; great grandchildren: Tina Marie Maxwell of Tylersburg, Liam and Avin Oyler of Snow Hill, MD, Greyson Oyler of FL, Logan and Kierra Oyler of Lucinda; a sister, Charlotte Mealy of Marienville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Smith, a granddaughter, Tina Lynn Maxwell, her brothers, Joseph, Charles (Buck), John Botts, and sisters, Helen Bender and Betty Blair.
Per Jean's wishes a private viewing and graveside service will be held Thursday for the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Tylersburg United Methodist Church 8501 RT 36 Tylersburg, PA 16361.
