Obituary of Heather M. Schroeder

Please share a memory of Heather to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Heather Marie Schroeder (nee Anderson) announces her passing on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016 at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved wife of John K. Schroeder, Jr.; loving stepmother of 7 stepchildren: Pricilla Hawkins, Lee B. (Michelle) Schroeder, Lynne Norwood, Pamela (Henry) Breeden, John K. Schroeder, III, Jacqueline (Fred) Whitney, Mark Schroeder (deceased), and 14 grandchildren and 19 great grand children. She was the treasured sister of Lynne Guthrie (Steve Fowler) and John (Linda) Anderson and dear Aunt of Jamie Guthrie (deceased) and Charles and Ivor Anderson. Heather was born October 10, 1937, as the first and cherished child of Peter and Irene Anderson of Oak Lake, Manitoba. After completing high school in Oak Lake, and obtaining a teaching degree at Brandon University, Heather taught for several years before joining the Royal Canadian Navy as a commissioned Officer. Heather was passionate about her Navy career, which included postings in Halifax and later, overseas, stationed in Brussels with NATO, where she met her future husband, Colonel John K. Schroeder, Jr. Heather and Ken made their home in the United States, living and working in Washington and then moving to Tylersburg, Pennsylvania. Heather was the most open and genuine person imaginable. She was an engaging hostess, a wonderful cook and an obsessive mystery book reader and collector. She was also always very devoted to all of the children in her life. They received the benefit of her incredible love and generosity, kindness and warmth, throughout their lives – as did her many, many friends. Heather has left us all with so many good memories of her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Tionesta, with Rev. Jonathan Bell, pastor of the church, officiating. Her remains will be interred in the family plot in Oak Lake Cemetery. The family suggests that donations in Heather's memory may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA.
