Obituary of William F. Schmader

William F. Schmader, Sr., 91, of Leeper, died late Monday afternoon, February 29, 2016, at his home, after an extended illness. Born March 7, 1924, in Lucinda, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Geraldine T. Fesenmyer Schmader.
He was married to the former Mildred H. (Millie) Foy on July 8, 1944, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2014.
Bill served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a mechanic at R & H Trucking in Clarion. After his retirement he was employed by McFarland Beer Distributor and Borland Funeral Home in Leeper. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown and was a Mass server and a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 50 year member of the St. Hubert's Council 10341 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifetime member of the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and most of all, his family.
Bill is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son: Catherine McCleary and her husband, Jerry of Sun Lakes, Arizona; Karla Beichner and her husband, Chuck of Knox; Karen Schneider and her husband, Stan of Oregon and Mike Schmader and his wife, Sandy of Leeper. He is also survived 1 sister: Patricia McFarland of Shippenville. In addition, he is survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 4 sister-in-laws: Louise Schmader of Clarion; Lyn Schmader of Jupiter, Florida; Theda Foy of Oil City and Edna Foy of Oil City. He is also survived by his dog, Snuffy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Bill Schmader, Jr.; 4 brothers: Cyril, Bernie, Richard and Donald Schmader and 1 great-granddaughter.
Friends and family may call on Friday, March 4, 2016, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown, with Rev. Christopher Barnes, pastor of the church, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice or Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Department.
