Obituary of Eugene D. Dausch
Please share a memory of Eugene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eugene (Gene) Dausch, born August 26, 1958, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from frontal temporal dementia.
Gene was the proud owner of "Wear Else?", the young men's and women's clothing stores in Clarion and Du Bois malls. At an early age, he started working for his father at "Kirk's Mens' Wear", learning hands-on the retail clothing trade.
Gene was a member of the St. Joseph's Church in Lucinda. He served as lector, Eucharistic minister and choir member. He was an active volunteer for the "Fourth of July" celebration, Sportsmen's Gun Raffle and the church dinners.
He was known for his generous support of local charities, genuine hugs, enthusiastic handshakes, great jokes and amazing tongue tricks. Gene was an avid Steelers fan, followed the Pirates and challenged all to "March Madness". He had a passion for traveling and had a goal to visit all the National Parks.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Dausch; brother, Mike and sister, Sheila of Pittsburgh.
Married for seventeen years (October 3, 1998), Gene always said "She still likes me!" to Connie (Niederriter) Griffith. We have been blessed and are grateful to have been loved by such a good man. He was proud Papa to Everleigh Haibach, a loving father to Colleen Griffith, Laura Bradford (Mark and his daughter, Bella), Zachary (Diane) Dausch, Erica Griffith (Allen Resignalo), Gehran Dausch and Jennifer (Darhyl) Snyder. He was the son-in-law of George and Barbara Niederriter.
Gene is also survived by his siblings and spouses in Pittsburgh; Pete (Patti) Dausch, Tom (Gjerde) Dausch, Gail (Bruce) Ehrenberger, Fran (Bruce) Fisher, Paul (Emily) Dausch; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Aunt Betty Hillman.
The family would like to thank the loving, compassionate staff of Clarion/Forest VNA Hospice and the caring staff of Jefferson Manor, while he resided there.
May the enduring legacy of Gene's kind heart and jovial spirit be remembered: as we shake hands with a wild childlike enthusiasm and a "nice to meet you!". In lieu of flowers, they made Gene sneeze; please send a contribution to Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214 or to St. Joseph's School, P.O. Box 9, Lucinda, PA 16235
The family will welcome friends from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, pastor, as celebrant.
