Obituary of David P. Bauer

David P. Bauer, Sr., 83, of Lucinda and formerly of Eden New York and Sacramento, California died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Snyder Memorial Nursing Home in Marienville. Born July 2, 1931 in Lucinda, he was the son of the late Lewey and Clara Slater Bauer. Mr. Bauer married Cecile Ramier Bauer of Kenmore, NY on November 22, 1952 at St. Paul Church in Kenmore and she survives. They raised their family of ten children in Eden, New York. While attending Immaculate Conception Church in Eden, he served as an usher and a member of the Mission Team. Mr. Bauer worked for the New York State Thruway from 1966 to 1986. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Sacramento, CA, where he volunteered as a truck driver, picking up food donations for Senior Gleaners, Inc., a non-profit food bank. In 1995, Mr. Bauer and his wife moved back to Lucinda and built their house in the woods, overlooking the original Lewey Bauer homestead. A member of St. Mary Church in Crown, Mr. Bauer worked as maintenance man for the rectory and the cemetery. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Bauer loved big family gatherings and children of all ages. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, riding his 4-wheeler and observing nature. He loved winning the occasional game of cards. Being an animal lover by nature, dogs were his special friends. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bauer is survived by seven children: Catherine Bauer of Buffalo, NY; Rose Bauer of Angola, NY; Michael Bauer of Angola, NY, Jason Bauer of Tucson, AZ and Thomas Bauer and his wife, Lynnette, Jean Caraotta and Barbara Chavez and her husband, Henry, all of the Sacramento CA area. Mr. Bauer is survived by 2 brothers: Richard Bauer and wife Margaret of Michigan and John Bauer and his wife Patricia of Lucinda and two sisters: Grace Pabst of Ohio and Sister Betty Bauer of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bauer was preceded in death by 3 sons: David Bauer, Jr., Russell Bauer and James Bauer and 2 brothers Cyril and Paul Bauer Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 1, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Christopher Barnes, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Mary Church P.O. Box 41 Crown Pa. 16220 or Clarion Forest VNA Hospice 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA. 16214.
