Joyce A. Means, 85, of Marienville, went to be with GOD Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born April 29, 1928 in Kane, she was the daughter of the late Jacob H. and Elsie Mae Davis Irwin.
She married Dorsey M. Means on June 15, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1964.
Joyce was a housewife. She was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church for 75 years. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and their friends.
Joyce is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter: Robert (Mick) Means and his wife, Holly of Dubois; David Means and his wife, Karen of Marienville and Cindy Mainwaring and her husband, Russ of Marienville. She is also survived by a brother, Max Irwin of Everett, Washington. She is survived by 9 grandchildren: Tracy Martinescu, Eric Schreiber, Jason Means, Charlie Means, Dena Anderson, Jake Means, Josh Means, Justin Courter and Jared Courter. In addition, she is survived by 5 great grandchildren: Peter, Elena and Lilly Martinescu; Ryan Means and Kole Anderson.
In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Jo Means; 4 brothers: Blair Irwin, Hiram Irwin, Jacob Irwin and Clair (Ted) Irwin and 3 sisters: Mildred Hutchins, Bernice Kraft and Virginia Larson.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
