Obituary of Dewayne H. Zerbe

Dewayne H. Zerbe, 76, of Rt. 66, Lucinda, quietly passed on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Born April 25, 1936 in Leeper, he was the son of the late Earl L. and Wilna I. Slocum Zerbe. He married the former Jane E. Wolbert on October 15, 1960 at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2012. Mr. Zerbe graduated from Farmington High School in 1954. In his younger years, he worked with his uncles doing carpentry work. He moved on to ABC Coach Company and then worked 21 years for Glass Containers in Marienville until its closure. He retired from Astro Manufacturing in 1998. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Knights of Columbus Council 4216 and the Clarion Moose Club. He was an avid Steeler fan, enjoyed trains of all sizes and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Zerbe is survived by 4 children: Christopher E. Zerbe and his fiancée, Tammi of Lucinda; Jennifer A. Maher and her husband, Daniel of Fryburg; Stephanie L. Schmader and her husband, Douglas of Pittsburgh and Matthew W. Zerbe and his wife, Theresa of Lucinda. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Marie Allaman and her husband, Wayne (Jack) of Shippenville. He is survived by 6 grandchildren: Jason and Bradley Maher, Joshua and Alexis Schmader, Morgan Rae Zerbe and Justin Haibach. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Zerbe was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Zerbe. Friends and family may call on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Program.
