Elois Anita Stitzinger, 82, of Leeper, died early Tuesday evening, January 22, 2013 at Clarion Hospital. Born March 9, 1930 in Leeper, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Smith Slocum.
She married Charles H. Stitzinger, Sr. on March 25, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, and he survives.
Mrs. Stitzinger worked for DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY, until she retired in 1987. She was a member of the Tylersburg United Methodist Church and she co-chaired the Bereavement Committee at the church. She worked on the Election Board in Farmington Township and in New York State. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting owls, frogs and porcelain shoes.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stitzinger is survived: by a son, Charles H. Stitzinger, Jr. and his wife, Audrey of North Tonawanda, NY, a daughter, Sherry Tremblay and her husband, Daniel of Liberty, North Carolina. She is also survived by a sister, Belva Cannan and her husband, William of Niagara Falls, NY.
She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Valerie Burley, Victoria Aldrich, Robert Reynolds, Philip Stitzinger, Allison Cacicia and Peter Stitzinger. In addition, she is survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call on Friday, January 25, from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Mark Hurst of Tylersburg Charge United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in the Shotts Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice or the American Heart Association.
