Obituary of Marie E. Griebel

Marie E. Griebel, 97, of Lucinda, died Tuesday evening, March 13, 2012 at Clarview Nursing Home. Born November 20, 1914 in Venus, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Hattie Van Wormer Hartle. She married Charles J. Griebel, Sr. on December 2, 1939 and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1972. Marie worked for ABC Trailer Factory, The Corner Restaurant, Rheas Motel and St. Joseph Parish. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and the Rosary Society of the church. She was a life member of Clarion Moose Lodge for 50 plus years. She enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and hunting in her younger years. She is survived by 2 daughters and one son: Mary Ann Armagost and her husband, Leroy of Lucinda; JoAnn Gabler and her husband, Tom of Leeper and Charles J. Griebel, Jr. and his wife, Helen of Dubois. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Hartle, 2 infant brothers, 2 sisters, Lucille Beary and Virginia Griebel and a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Griebel. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 16, from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda with Rev. William Miller, pastor of the church as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Joseph School or the American Cancer Society.
