Obituary of Alberta E. Grove

Alberta E. Grove, 77, of Pine Hollow Drive, Tionesta, PA, died late Sunday night, May 8, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. Born May 13, 1933 in Plainfield, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn Nagler Wooden. Alberta married John W. Grove on May 16, 1952 and he survives. She was an elementary teacher and served as secretary for the teacher's union at New Middletown Elementary School in New Middletown, Ohio. She was a member of the Fryburg Sportsmans Club. Alberta enjoyed watching the soap opera, General Hospital and supported numerous animal rights organizations. In addition to her husband, Alberta is survived by 3 children, Robert J. Grove of New Castle, Gene W. Grove and his wife, Mary of Elkhart, Indiana and Debra E. Grove- Mahoney and her husband, James B. of Lancaster, PA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert Wooden. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. Friends may also call from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday before the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor of Greenwood United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Clarion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
