Obituary of James P. Boyle

James P. Boyle, 85, of Clarion, formerly of Naples, Florida, died Monday morning, December 27, 2010 in Clarion. Born December 7, 1925 in Derry, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Kirby Boyle. He married the former Dorothy Bertsch on May 25, 1948 and she survives. Mr. Boyle served in the U.S. Army with the 13th Air Force in World War II in the South Pacific Theater, completing 44 combat missions as a member of a Consolidated B24 Liberator with the 370th Bomber Squadron. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 45 years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Boyle is survived by 3 children: Scott Boyle and his wife, Lisa of Clearfield, Jim Boyle and his wife, Kim of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Kass Verne and her husband, Matt of Clarion. He is also survived by a sister, Nancy Baker and her husband, Art of Blairsville. In addition he is survived by 5 grandchildren: Taylor and Caitlin Boyle of Clearfield, Austin and Garrett Boyle of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Matt Verne of Clarion. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyle was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Michael, Thomas and Joseph Boyle. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family at Arlington National Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations be mailed to Community First Bank, attn: Deb Benetti, 601 Main Street, Clarion, PA 16214. All donations will be used to update selected furnishings at a local nursing care facility. The Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper is in charge of arrangements.
