Obituary of William J. Kuhns

William James (Jim) Kuhns, 63, of Cooksburg, passed away late Thursday evening, September 2, 2010 at his home. Born November 30, 1946 in New Bethlehem, he was the son of James William (Bill) and Esther Slagle Kuhns. Mr. Kuhns served in the U.S. Army. He operated Cook Forest Riding Academy until his death. He cherished wildlife and the forest. He was an excellent deer hunter and tracker. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Kuhns is survived by 2 sons, Jesse Kuhns and his wife, Sherrell of Cincinnati, Ohio and Zacharia Kuhns of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He is survived by two sisters, Shirley Allison and her husband, James of Kittanning and Judy Wise and her husband, Ron of Berea, Ohio. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Shalom Kuhns. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kuhns was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Kuhns. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenwood U.M. Church in North Pinegrove, with Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor of the church, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church after the service. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to Charitable Deeds, 98 Hickory Nut Lane, Knox, PA 16232.
