Patricia Theresa Carroll, 84, a resident of 28282 Route 66, Lucinda, died peacefully Thursday, August 5, 2010 in the Clarion Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 14, 1926 in Lucinda, she was the beloved daughter of the late: John and Josephine Snyder Lander.
She attended St. Joseph School and was graduated from St. Joseph High School of Lucinda.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church, Lucinda where she began each day attending Mass and had formerly taught religious education. She was a longtime member of the Rosary Altar Society of the church and had served as president of The World Apostolate of The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, U.S.A.
Mrs. Carroll enjoyed helping others and had volunteered for many years at the AAA Pregnancy Center of Clarion and at Beverly Healthcare in Shippenville.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting and was an accomplished musician; she enjoyed playing the accordion, piano and loved to sing. She will best be remembered by her loving family though as a homemaker, mother and devoted wife.
She was married to Edwin James Carroll on June 17, 1947 in St. Joseph Church in Lucinda. Her husband preceded her in death on August 14, 1982.
She is survived by her sons: Richard Carroll and his wife Kathy of Vowinckel, David Carroll and his wife Nancy of North East, Stephen Carroll and his wife Louise of Zephryhills, FL, Edwin Carroll, Jr. of Lucinda and Brian Carroll of Vowinckel; also surviving are her daughters: Theresa Snyder of Lucinda and her friend John Sharpe of Venus and
Mary "Trish" Karg and her husband James of Leeper; and 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister: Hilda Lutz of Jamestown, NY and a brother: Thomas Lander of Tionesta; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her brothers: James, Robert, Herbert, John, Francis and Edwin "Bud" Lander and her sisters: Ethel Brand, Mildred Judy, Alice Staub and Grace Judy.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9PM in the Borland Funeral Home, Inc., Leeper. A Christian Wake Service will be held Sunday at 3:45 PM in the funeral home.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Monday in St. Joseph Church, Lucinda with Rev. William Miller, pastor; as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made either: AAA Life Services, Wood Street, Clarion or to the Clarion-Forest V. N. A.
