Doris I. Gilbert, 93, formerly of Vowinckel, PA (North Pine Grove), passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at McKinley Health Center at Laurelbrooke, in Brookville, PA.

She was born on August 23, 1932, in Redcliff, PA at the family farm to the late Delmar B. and Eva C. (Cassett) Uplinger.

Doris married the love of her life, Paul E. Gilbert on April 30, 1955, at the Presbyterian Church in Brookville, PA. Paul preceded her in death on April 19, 1995.

During her early years, Doris had worked as a nurse's aide at Brookville Hospital and had also been employed at Sylvania in Brookville. Once she married Paul, she committed her life and love to caring for others and being a mother and homemaker. Doris enjoyed gardening and was an avid canner. She also took great pleasure in sewing. Doris attended the greenwood Methodist Church from birth until latter years when health no longer permitted participation. During that time, she was very active in all church activities and a mainstay in the congregation. But most of all, she loved spending time with the family that Paul and she had created.

She is survived by her son, Charles V. Gilbert and his wife Jill of Vowinckel, PA and her daughter Cynthia L. Clark of Shippenville, PA; grandchildren: Toni Clark, Don Clark, Jessica (Mike) Kitchen, Paul (Leeann) Clark, Eric Clark, and Matt (Karly) Gilbert; great grandchildren: Kolby, Claytyn ,Halley, Alexa, Nicole, Kingston, Domonic, Ty, Wren and Aaron. She is also survived by a very special niece, Phyllis Schrecengost, who was more of a daughter than anything. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00pm to 4:30pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. A funeral/memorial service will be held at 4:30pm at the funeral home immediately following the visitation, with Reverend Keith Diehl, as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Vowinckel, PA at the convenience of the family.
