Lois Marie Ochs, 81, formerly of Lucinda, PA and Penngrove, CA, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Highland Oaks/Water Run Landing in Clarion, PA. Born April 5, 1944, at the Ochs family homestead in Lucinda, Lois was the daughter of the late Martin and Eulalia (Wolbert) Ochs.

Lois graduated from St. Joseph High School in Lucinda and St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, where she earned her RN license. Lois was a proud member of the Air Force with an honorable discharge in 1970. She made her home in Penngrove, CA for most of her adult life and made a nursing career in obstetrics and maternity until 1998. Lois then studied Horticulture (the art of gardening) and soon opened a thriving Carnivorous Plant wholesale nursery (plants adapted for capturing and digesting insects and animals).

After the loss of her partner of more than 30 years, Nancy Nesbitt, Lois returned to Lucinda, PA in 2021 and resided with her loyal dog, Dolly, until moving to Water Run Landing in Clarion last year.

Lois is survived by a daughter; Rhiannon (Rachel) M. Abramson, two grandchildren; Conar Abramson-Davis and Zoe Abramson-Rivera, and one great grandchild; Nova Abramson-Rivera.

Lois is survived by one sister: Cecilia C. Schill of Shippenville and two brothers: Gerard M. Ochs of Lucinda and Nicholas J. Ochs and his partner Margie George of Sun City, AZ; and one brother-in-law, John J. Dechant and his wife Lorraine of Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and partner, Nancy, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Cyrilla H. (Sally) Dechant and Barbara Jean Schill; one brother: Carl F. Ochs; sisters-in-law Delene Ochs, Sally Ochs, and Diane Ochs; and brothers-in-law Walter J. (Sonny) Schill, and Richard F. (Dick) Schill.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper.
