Roger D. Walter, 91, of Leeper, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026.

He was born on September 22, 1934, the son of Donald and Gertrude Walter.

Roger graduated in 1953, from Farmington Township High School in Leeper. He was an athlete in school, especially basketball, where he held the record in foul shooting.

He married Helen L. Beary on October 16, 1954, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fryburg. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 16, 2024. Roger was in 10th grade the first time he saw Helen. He told his buddies, "I'm going to marry that girl!" and 3 years later he did.

Roger owned and operated a commercial and residential door-to-door milk delivery service for several years.

Roger is survived by his 4 children: Pamela Walter Gilmore (Terry) of Miola, Douglas Walter (Luann), Dale Walter and Nancy Walter Ochs, all of Leeper; 6 grandchildren: Amy Gilmore Breniman (Mat), Andy Gilmore (Monica), Misty Walter Hartle (Roddy), Roger Walter (Leigh), Brittany Ochs Parrett (Craig) and Mack Ochs; 14 great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren: Christy Hawk and Amy Miller and 5 step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Beary Walter, on May 6, 2025, his parents Donald and Gertrude Walter, his son-in-law Nelson "Pink" Ochs, his sister Peggy Constable, and a step grandson Jerry Shaffer.

At Roger's request, there will be no public visitation. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown. At 11:00am there will be a mass of Christian burial with Rev. Brandon Kleckner, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Fryburg.

The family asks that donations in Roger's memory be made to a church of one's choice or to Charitable Deeds, 260 High Point Road, Knox, PA 16232.
