Obituary of Helen L. Walter

Helen L. Walter, 90, of Leeper, PA died Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She married Roger D. Walter on October 16, 1954, in Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Fryburg. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Helen is survived by her husband and 4 children: Pamela and her husband Terry Gilmore of Lucinda, Douglas Walter and his wife LuAnn, Dale Walter and Nancy Ochs of Leeper. Helen is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Amy Breniman, Andy Gilmore, Misty Hartle, Roger Walter, Brittany Parrett and Mack Ochs. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren. Two step grandchildren survive Christie Hawk and Amy Miller and 5 step great grandchildren, a half sister Lucille Shirey and a half brother Robert Beary. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Madeline Ditz and JoAnne Black, brothers Victor Beichner, William Beichner and Leonard Beary, a half-sister Bonnie Lee, a son-in-law Nelson "Pink" Ochs and a step grandson Jerry Shaffer. At Helen's request there will be no public visitation at the funeral home. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 9:00am to 10:00am at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Crown. At 10:00am a Mass of Christian burial will take place with Rev. Michael Polinek, as officiant. Interment will be in Saint Michael's Cemetery in Fryburg.
