Please share a memory of Benjamin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Benjamin "Henry" Sherman, 54, Lucinda, passed away unexpectedly March 10, 2025, after suffering a medical emergency while at work.
Born Aug. 16, 1970, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Benjamin P. Sherman and Beverly J. Bramblett Sherman. He grew up on the family farm in Salem Township, Clarion County.
On Aug. 10, 1991, he married Laura Ochs Sherman at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda. Together, Laura and Henry have three beautiful daughters, Karlie (Adam) Groner of Clarion; Erika (Shawn) Loll of Lucinda; and Haley (special friend Reed Bell) at home. Henry was very proud of his daughters and their achievements.
Henry graduated from Keystone High School in 1988. He also graduated from the Clarion County Career Center's Building Trades Department. Two days after graduating from the building trades department, he traveled just down the road a couple of hundred yards and was hired at Colony Homes manufactured housing where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 2019. Henry then worked in the maintenance department at the Clarion County YMCA, a second career which he truly loved. He especially enjoyed making improvements at the YMCA farm at Camp Coffman, which is what he was doing when he passed away.
Henry was an Oliver farm tractors enthusiast and often took his daughters to tractor shows throughout the area. Henry was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers – no matter how the teams performed. He enjoyed Mel Brooks movies and rock and roll music.
Henry was a member of Clarion Community Theater for about 20 years and participated in many shows as an actor, light and sound technician, set builder and director. Live comedy theater was a hobby he enjoyed very much.
In addition to his wife and mother, Henry is survived by his grandchildren, Layla Groner, Quinn Loll and a third grandchild expected this summer. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney (Tonja) Sherman of Lamartine; sister Diana (Fred) Buzard of Salem Township and sister Karen (Rob) Minnick of Knox; in-laws Verneada and Kevin Schill, Yvonne and Mark Weaver, John and Karen Wolbert, Steve Ochs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his father and his father- and mother-in law, Steve and Juanita Ochs.
Henry will be missed by his two canine companions -- Cooper and Ranger – who Henry often took along for rides in his side-by-side.
There will be no visitation or services. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at a later date. Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA is entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial contributions should be directed to the Clarion County YMCA, 499 Mayfield Rd, Clarion, Pa., 16214.
